5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
20 minutes ago, madders sent me a recipe for 5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake. Now I'm sitting here eating chocolate cake and telling you all about it, because really? It's Chocolate! Cake! In Five Minutes! What's not to love?

4 tablespoons flour (self-raising/rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional, I had none to hand so did without)
a small splash of good vanilla
1 large coffee mug (I used a pint mug)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (optional) and vanilla, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

I cheated a little and used a second mug so that I could beat the egg, milk, oil and vanilla together before adding it to the dry ingredients, but that's just because I'm lazy. *g*

In conclusion: OM NOM NOM!

dangerous recipe! Good think I'm off chocolate for Lent or my microwave would be dinging too!

It's the most dangerous cake recipe in the world, so says the email. Because if you have the ingredients, you're never more than 5 minutes away from chocolate cake!

I apoologise for torturing you with forbidden goodies. Bookmark this and mark your calendar for the day after Lent ends. OM NOM NOM!

That's so funny. My mom sent me something similar a month or so ago, and then i read about it on lj and followed some links and read a *lot* of 'ooh, so gross!!' reviews.

So neat! I'm glad it worked for you. I'm prolly gonna try it myself some day - Monstrous will certainly like it.

:)

I;ve had better cake, but not faster cake. And if you have one of those 'OMG I need chocolate cake, STAT!' moments at 3am, this is the solution. *g*

I think it would probably be a fun thing for kids too. I might share this at work with co-working parents (and chocoholics). :D

Mine was a bit dry, but then I'm a terrible tablespoon heaper, which is fine for the dry ingredients, but not so simply done with the wet stuff. That'e easily fixed with some icecream or regular cream or even a little fruit couli, I would imagine.

He... Oh, dear. Silly boy. No cake for him! *g*

I think it's a recipe I'll play with, adding and subtracting and substituting until I find my perfect cupmugcake. :D

If you have a friend with a microwave, talk them into sharing! It's a good recipe for a movie night or a girls' night in.

I too have cake now *g*

Mine's a bit dry- but then I lack a tablespoon, so therefore have been guessing all my measurements LOL!

I solved the problem by serving it with ice cream ;o)

Mmmmmmmmmm caaaaaaaaaake

You don't have tablespoons? I... cannot imagine a kitchen without tablespoons. You must rectify this immediately. It hurts my brain. I... *flails* Immediately!

Ice cream is never the wrong solution. :D

I've just recently been bit by the baking/cooking bug. After over 35 years of blissful can-opening and microwaving, and freezer-to-oven dinners, I suddenly want to make things from actual ingredients.

I have two types of flour and three types of sugar in my kitchen. I have bakeware and a random urge to scour the net for recipes. I keep visiting Argos and Amazon online, comparing food processors and blenders and other kitchen gadgets.

My mother bought me digital kitchen scales for Xmyth and I squeed out loud.

Maybe it's hormonal. ;)

Thank you!

I may indeed stay 39 forever. Or I may do what I did after I turned 21, and start celebrating anniversaries of 39. 'It's not my fortieth birthday, it's the first anniversary of my thirty-ninth!'. *g*

Hee! You are welcome. :D

I shared the recipe with a young guy at work who is just starting to learn how to cook and he has been telling all of his friends about it. I have started a chocolate-cake frenzy in the (localized) youth of today. LOL!
