Is it me, or does someone have their finger on the fast forward button of life? I can't believe it's September already!

For anyone who's wondering, I'm still in love with my Buffy boys, and my Supernatural boys and my SGA boys and the rest of my menagerie, I'm just completely obsessed with the guys in tights and spandex right now, so most of my ficbrain is focussed in that direction. Most. ;)

If any of you are tempted to take the fandom 'research' poll that's out there, I'd advise you to read this, this, this (links taken from metafandom) and follow a few of the links in those posts before you get drawn into their asshattery. (Not that I'm biased, or anything, but the reason for their 'research' is a contract to write a book entitled: 'RULE 34: WHAT NETPORN TEACHES US ABOUT THE BRAIN.')

rounds_of_kink is asking for prompts again here. And remember, 'kink' covers a lot of ground, from something as simple as enjoying playing with someone's hair (or someone playing with yours) through to auto-erotic asphyxiation, scat, bloodplay, etc. So go and prompt. You could end up with some delicious new fic that hits your buttons.

Hi, everyone. I'm still alive, still... around, just very very quiet. I can't believe it's March already and that I'm staring 39 in the face, but at least I have the week off work to cope with getting older. *g*

ship_manifesto - the place for your "Why I ship this pairing/threesome/moresome" manifestos. All fandoms welcome - live action tv, manga, anime, literature, computer games (Suki, I'm looking at you *g*). Go check out the masterlist! Stake a claim! Share the love! /pimp

One last thing! If you or anyone you know is being inundated with popups, and/or has seen their computer slow down considerably, you may be infected with the Virtumonde/Vundo trojan horse. Spybot, Norton, Symantec, Adaware, AVG (and possibly others) are not catching this. But all is not lost. malwarebytes.org has the solution, and for free! There is a paid, always-on version with automatic updates and scheduled screening, but the freeware version does the job just as well. I diagnosed a customer's computer woes while selling his wife cigarettes and told him to use this prog. He was back in 3 hours with tears of joy in his eyes. Well, okay, he was happy and said thank you, but it works! :D

So, before I pimp this sucker from one end of LJ to the other, I want to ask you all a question. There don't seem to be (m)any comms around who use images as prompts, so would it be better to drop the maximum wordcount and leave the length up to the writer?

On November 30th, bloodclaim will be five four years old. That both stuns and delights me.

(ETA: It has since been pointed out to me by the lovely ponders_life, that is is four not five years since the creation of this lovely comm. Apparently I am incapable of simple maths right now. *headdesk* Regardless, the fives 'thon remains in place. next year I'll just have to come up with something else. Yeesh.)

It stuns me to think that it's been five four years since a love of Spander took over my life and made me create a comm, and then had me popping up in the journals of total strangers (and writers I revered!) to nag them into joining and posting their fic in my new happy place.

It delights me to see that there are now over 950 members posting and commenting and keeping the Spander love alive. ♥

The Five Things/Five Years Spanderthon!

A lot of you have probably seen various iterations of the 'Five Things' meme that's been jumping from fandom to fandom. As it's bloodclaim's fifth fourth anniversary, I can't think of a better theme for the celebration than a flood of Spandery 'Five Things' posts.

Imagine 'Five Things Willow Heard' or 'Five Things Buffy Saw' or 'Five Things That Xander Says Must not Be Used As Sex Toys (Ever Again!)'. It could be 'Five Times Spike and Xander Didn't Have Sex', 'Five Times Xander had To Bail Spike Out (Or Vice Versa)', 'Five Things They Should Never Have Used As Lube'. Or what about 'Five Ways Spike and Xander Might Have Got Together', or 'Five Demons Who Tried To Take Xander Away From Spike', or 'Five Hawaiian Shirts And The Ways Spike Destroyed Them'.

And if the idea of writing Five Things doesn't appeal, we have an alternative Five - Five Years After X Happened - with 'X' being left entirely up to you. It could be anything from 'Five Years After The Destruction of Sunnydale' to 'Five Years After Their First Kiss' to 'Five Years After The Apocalypse' to 'Five Years After Xander Came Back' to 'Five Years After Spike Came Home With that Damn Cat'.

It's neat to have award sites with a wide-ranging array of categories in addition to the more specific character and pairing-focused awards sites, so if you can participate, please do help keep this awards site (and other sites) running.
