Summary: Xander misses more than he expected to after the loss of Sunnydale.

The End and A Beginning

It doesn't occur to him that there might be something odd about starting a conversation with the words 'Spike says you have my plates', but there's certainly something odd about the response he gets.

"I don't know what… It wasn't… Ooh, I knew he was still evil! Wait 'til I see him next week, I'll-"

It wasn't difficult to get the details out of Andrew, it only cost Xander continued custody of the purloined plates.

He was on a plane an hour later, in LA two after that.

Another hour saw him standing in the lobby of Wolfram and Hart.

Don't even think about getting dressed and leaving, Harris, not after that… unexpected reunion scene. Demon girl wasn't kidding about that Viking thing, was she?

And don't go working yourself up into some huge ball of denial. There's no way that was the first time you've ever had a cock in your mouth. 'Course, your technique could do with a bit of fine-tuning, but we can sort that out once I've had a word with the poof about getting you on the payroll.

Keep the blankets warm, pet, I'll be back with breakfast. You're going to need the energy.

This final Spike note has been writing itself in my head since the beginning. I knew I had to end with it, and there was no way I could do real justice to the actual reunion in Xander's 100 words, so I dragged Andrew in for a babbling cameo instead. *g*

Also, I have been known to abuse exclamation points myself. ;)

I couldn't bear to break the pattern of Spike speaking in note form, and this one has been writing itself in my head almost since the first moment I thought of this set of drabbles.

It's another one for Xander to add to his growing collection in his fancy new wallet. *g*

Oh, I've just found this so wonderful fic. Absolutely loved it. Loved the notes, they were so Spike. Even the double ones in Xander's old wallet, hidden behind the unused condom.

Spike left Xander with some albums that were worth a lot of money! He loves Xander if he's doing that. Even then, before the end of Sunnydale. So poignant.

Now Xander is in LA. So, a sequel? Please?

Andrew kept the plates for the same reason some people hoard stolen artwork - so they can sit in a room somewhere and coo over it and know it's theirs, aaaaaaaaaall theirs. ;)

So lovely,
I like the continued drabble style for this piece because it was almost like visual flashes in a movie trailer which let us fill in the missing parts.
The notes were brilliantly written and the last note was truly genius. All of the them had perfect Spike voice and a great combination of funny, snark and emotion.

That's what I love about drabbles, especially drabble series. They're snapshots of a bigger picture that the reader gets to colour in for themselves.

I love this sooo much. I never doubted that Xander had mad skillz, Anya wasn't the random compliments type. But clearly Spike was impressed and I find that just hilarious and sweet.
